COLEMAN, MR. DAVIS, MR, MICHIE, MR. SCRIBNER AND MR, WEINBERG. <br />ABSENT: NONE. <br />THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF NOVEMBER 1T, 195$ WERE READ AND APPROVED. <br />MR, BERNARD CHAMBERLAIN AND MR. HARDY DILLARD ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL AND <br />MATTER RE; HISTORICAL MARKER REQUESTED THAT THE CITY ERECT A HISTORICAL MARKER AT FIFTH AND E. MARKET STREETS <br />PRESIDENT JAMES MONROE <br />DESIGNATING AN EARLY HOME OF PRESIDENT JAMES MONROE. A MOTION BY MR. WEINBERG, <br />SECONDED BY MR, SCRIBNER THAT THIS MATTER BE REFERRED TO A COMMITTEE, APPOINTED <br />BY THE MAYOR, WITH POWER TO ACT, WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. THE MAYOR APPOINTED <br />MR. WEINBERG, MR. BOWEN AND MR. CHAMBERLAIN TO THIS COMMITTEE. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. DAVIS, SECONDED BY MR. COLEMAN, THE FOLLOWING REPORT OF <br />THE UTILITIES COMMITTEE WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED: <br />NOVEMBER Z6, 1958 <br />TO THE MEMBERS QF THE COUNCIL <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA <br />GENTLEMEN: <br />WE HAVE CONSIDERED THE REQUEST OF MR. WILLIAMSON W. FULLER, II, THAT <br />HE BE GRANTED WATER SERVICE FOR A PROPOSED RESTAURANT AND MOTEL TO BE <br />UTILITIES COMMITTEE REPORT RE: CONSTRUCTED ON HIS PROPERTY ON MONTICELLO MOUNTAIN. MR,FULLER ANO HIS <br />WATER CONNECTION FOR RESTAURANT- ATTORNEYS REPRESENT THAT ~~THEIR PROPOSED BUILDINGS AND THE USE OF THEM <br />MOTEL ON MONTICELLO MOUNTAIN WILL VERY DEFINITELY BE IN HARMONY WITH LOCA4 HISTORICAL AND AESTHETIC <br />TRADITIONStt, AND THAT THEIR ~~INTEREST IN PROTECTING THE APPROACHES TO <br />MONTICELLD IS EQUALLY PROFOUND AND SINCERE~~. <br />WE FEEL THAT THE BUILDINGS AS PROPOSED AND REPRESENTED WOULD BE <br />BENEFICIAL TO THE PEOPLE VISITING MONTICELLO AND TO THE CITY, AND WE <br />THEREFORE RECOMMEND THAT A WATER SERVICE BE GRANTED TO MR. FULLER ON THE <br />FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: <br /> <br />1 THAT HE EXECUTE THE USUAL COUNTY WATER AGREEMENT. <br />2. THAT THE CONNECTION BE MADE ON NASSAU STREET, NORTH OF THE <br />INTERSECTION AT LINDEN STREET. <br />3. THAT HE PAY FOR THE METER AND CONNECTION PLUS THE USUAL <br />$100,00 FEE. <br />~. THAT THE CITY APPROVES HIS PLANS FOR LINES, STORAGE TANK <br />AND APPURTENANCES BEFORE THEY ARE INSTALLED. <br />5. THAT HE AGREES TO MAINTAIN HIS LINES, TANK AND APPURTENANCES <br />UP TO CITY STANDARDS AT ALL TIMES. <br />6. THAT HE AGREES NOT TO PERMIT ANY OTHER PERSONS OR FIRMS TO <br />CONNECT ONTO HIS WATER SYSTEM. <br />Z. THAT HE AGREES NOT TO CONNECT ANY OTHER WATER SYSTEM ONTO <br />THE LINE FROM THE CITY~S SYSTEM. <br />$. THAT HE AGREES THAT THE CITY MAY, IF IT SO DESIRES, FURNISH <br />WATER THROUGH HIS SERVICE ONLY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF <br />9:00 P. M. ANO 7:00 A. M. EACH DAY, <br />9. THAT HE AGREES TO CARRY OUT THE REPRESENTATIONS AS OUTLINED IN <br />LETTERS FROM ATTORNEYS MICHAEL AND CHAMBERLAIN DATED <br />NOVEMBER 14, 1958, AND HIS LETTER DATED NOVEMBER ZO, 1958. <br />RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED, <br />THOMAS J.
