SCRIBNER, SECONDED BY MR. ~,hIEINBERG, <br />THIS REQUEST WAS REFERRED TO THE PLANfJING COMMISSION FOR STUDY AND RECOMMENDATION. <br />THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THAT HE HAD RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE URBAN ENGINEER'S <br />'MATTER RE' ~^.II DEN i NC' OFFICE OF TFIE STATE H I GHtidAY DEPARTMENT, STATING THAT THE I R LOCAT i ON AND DESIGN <br />EMMETT STREET <br />DIVISION 4JAS NOW ABLE TO BEGIN SURVEYS AND PLANS FOR THE 1+/IDENING OF EMMETT STREET <br />FROh1 0.05 M I L E NORTH OF THE C ~v O UNDERPASS TO THE J`•IORTH C I TY L I M I TS AND THAT THE <br />TOTAL COST OF THESE SURVEYS AND PLANS WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY :~i7000.00 AND THAT <br />THE CITY~S PART OF THIS COST 4JOULD BE 25;~ OR APPROXIMATELY :~.1 ,75G.OO. HE <br />RECOMMENDED THAT THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT BE REQUESTED TO PROCEED WITH THIS <br />WORK AND THAT THE COUNCIL AUTHORIZE THE PAYMENT OF THE CITYtS SHARE OF THE COST. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. DAM S, SECONDED BY MR. COLEMAN, THE FOREGOING RECOMMENDATION <br />OF THE CITY I/IANAGER WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED, AND THE CITY MANAGER WAS INSTRUCTED <br />TO ADVISE THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT THAT THE CITY WILL PAY ITS PART OF <br />THE COST OF THE SURVEYS AND PLANS WHEN SO REQUESTED pY THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. <br />THE CIT`( MANAGER WAS ALSO INSTRUCTED TO ADVISE THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT THAT <br />CITY FUNDS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE TO PAY THE CITYtS PROPORTIONATE PART OF CONSTRUCTING <br />THIS PRO..ECT AND, THAT THE COUNCIL APRRECIATES VERY fdUCH THE INTEREST OF THE STATE <br />HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT IN IMPROVING THIS VERY CONGESTED SECTION OF ROUTE 29 AND IT Is <br />HOPED THAT THE WORK CAN GO FOR4IARD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. <br />SPECIAL MEETING - JUNE 22, 1959 ON MOTION BY ~~1R.
