<br />THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT DUE TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE
<br />250 BY PASS IT WAS NECESSARY TO RELOCATE A PART OF THE WATER LINE ALONG ROUTE 250,
<br />MATTER RE: RELOCATING WATER WEST. HE STATED THAT THE COST OF THIS WORK WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $14,000.00

<br />AND REQUESTED THAT AN APPROPRIATION BE MADE FOR THIS PROJECT. ON MOTION BY

<br />CHARLOTTESVILLE HAVE BEEN GRIEVED BY THE DEATH OF JAMES STANLEY QUICK
<br />RESOLUTION RE: ON THE FIRST DAY OF JULY, 1959, AND
<br />JAMES STANLEY QUICK
<br />WHEREAS AS A TRAFFIC OFFICER OF THE CITY SINCE MARCH, 1942, HE RENDERED
<br />AN OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY AND WAS HELD IN HIGH ESTEEM
<br />BY THOSE WHO WERE PRIVILEGED TO COME IN CONTACT WITH HIM, AND
<br />WHEREAS HIS LIFE AND WORK WERE EXEMPLIFIED BY HIS KINDNESS, HIS SINCERITY,
<br />HIS COURTESY AND HIS CONSIDERATION FOR THE PEOPLE WHOM HE SERVED,
<br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THERE BE EXTENDED TO HIS WIFE AND FAMILY
<br />THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THIS COUNCIL FOR THE LOSS WHICH THEY HAVE SUSTAINED,
<br />AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION BE SPREAD ON
<br />THE MINUTES OF THIS MEETING AND THAT A COPY BE SENT TO THE FAMILY OF MR. QUICK.
<br />THE CITY MANAGER REPORTED THAT MR. FRED W. HARTON, WHO HAS BEEN EMPLOYED
<br />IN THE WATER AND GAS DEPARTMENT SINCE 1924, HAD BEEN FORCED TO RETIRE ON ACCOUNT
<br />FRED HARTON - ONE-HALF PAY
<br />UNTIL ELIGIBLE FOR SOC. SEC. OF BAD HEALTH, AND SUGGESTED THAT IN KEEPING WITH CITY POLICY HE BE PAID
<br />$142.50 PER MONTH, WHICH IS ONE-HALF HIS PRESENT SALARY, UNTIL SUGW TIME AS
<br />HE BECOMES ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE SOCIAL SECURITY, AND AT THAT TIME HE BE PAID THE
<br />DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HALF PAY AND THE AMOUNT HE RECEIVES FROM SOCIAL SECURITY. ON
