<br />AN EXTRACT FROM THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY PLANNING <br />COMMISSION HELD ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 12, 1960 <br />REPORT RE: EXTENSION of COMMUNICATION FROM CITY COUNCIL RE: EXTENSION OF TIME ON NON-CONFORMING <br />TIME ON NON-CONFORMING USE USE OF LAND FOR STORAGE PURPOSES WAS PRESENTED BY THE PLANNING ENGINEER <br />OF LAND FOR STORAGE PURPOSES AND AFTER MUCH DISCUSSION BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION, MR. LONG MADE <br />A MOTION TO RECOMMEND TO THE CITY COUNCIL AN EXTENSION OF FIVE (5) YEARS <br />FROM 1960. MR. M. <br />WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. DAVIS, SECONDED BY MR. COLEMAN, THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE WAS <br />CONFEDERATE WIDOWS <br />PENSIONS AUTHORIZED <br />ORDERED TO PAY TO THE FOLLOWING CONFEDERATE WIDOWS A ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR ($IOO.OO) <br />PENSION FOR THE YEAR 1960, PROVIDED THEY WERE RESIDING IN CHARLOTTESVILLE ON <br />JANUARY 1, 1960: <br />MRS. ANNIE S. GIANNINY 1006 ELLIOTT AVENUE <br />MRS. MARTHA PARISH ROBERTS 1206 CHERRY AVENUE <br />38; <br />THE COMMITTEE APPOINTED TO STUDY THE REQUEST OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE EDUCATIONAL <br />MATTER RE: TAX EXEMPTION <br />C E F - COMMUNITY SHOP <br />FOUNDATION FOR TAX EXEMPTION ON ITS COMMUNITY SHOP RECOMMENDED THAT THE REQUEST <br />BE GRANTED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE LICENSE TAX YEAR OR MAY 1, 1960. ON MOTION <br />BY MR. DAVIS, SECONDED BY MR. COLEMAN, THE FOREGOING RECOMMENDATION WAS UNANIMOUSLY <br />ADOPTED. <br />THE TREASURER S LIST OF DELINQUENT AND ERRONEOUS TAXES IN THE AMOUNTS OF <br />MATTER RE: DELINQUENT $~ <br />ERRONEOUS TAXES REFERRED <br />TO COMMITTEE <br />$61,366.17 AND $2,655.06 RESPECTIVELY WAS PRESENTED AND ON MOTION BY MR. DAVIS, <br />SECONDED BY MR. COLEMAN, WAS REFERRED TO A COMMITTEE CONSISTING OF.MR. WEINBERG, <br />MR. COLEMAN, THE COMMISSIONER OF REVENUE AND THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE WITH THE <br />REQUEST THAT THE COMMITTEE INVESTIGATE THE DELINQUENT TAXES ON THE HOME FOR THE <br />AGED. <br />AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE TO EXTEND THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE <br />ORDINANCE CARRIED OVER RE: <br />ANNEXATION <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH AND PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF <br />ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 8 OF TITLE 15 OF THE CODE OF VIRGINIA, 1950, AS AMENDED, AND <br />PETITIONING THE CIRCUIT COURT OF ALBEMARLE COUNTY FOR THE ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY, <br />ADJOINING SAID CITY, FROM THE COUNTY OF ALBEMARLE" was OFFERED BY MR. WEINBERG, <br />SECONDED BY MR. DAVIS, AND CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION. <br />THE CITY MANAGER ADVISED THE COUNCIL THAT THE VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY OWNS <br />MATTER RE: l0T -VOLUNTEER <br />FIRE CO. VICE-MAYOR AUTHORIZED <br />TO EXECUTE DEED <br />A LOT AT THE CORNER OF GROVE AND SPRING STREETS WHICH IT WISHES TO SELL ANO THAT <br />TITLE TO THE LAND IS IN THE NAME OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE. MR. BOWEN <br />RECOMMENDED THAT THE VICE-MAYOR BE AUTHORIZED TO EXECUTE THIS DEED 50 THAT THE LAND <br />MAY BE DISPOSED OF. A MOTION BY MR. DAVIS, SECONDED BY MR. COLEMAN, THAT THE <br />VICE-MAYOR BE AUTHORIZED TO EXECUTE THIS DEED AND THE MONEY BE TURNED OVER TO THE <br />VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY WHEN RELIEVED, WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br />THE WELFARE REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER, 1959 WAS PRESENTED AND ORDERED <br />WELFARE REPORT PRESENTED <br />FILED WITH THE MINUTES OF THIS MEERING. <br />ON MOTION THE MEETING ADJOURNED. <br />'--,~ CL E R K <br />PRES I D~NT <br />C ' <br />
