410 <br />A COMMUNICATION FROM CONGRESS OF MOTOR HOTELS REQUESTING A CHANGE IN THE <br />MATTER RE: CONGRESS OF MOTOR <br />HOTELS - SET-BACK REQUIREMENTS SET-BACK REQUIREMENTS ON SEVENTH STREET BETWEEN NIGH AND MAPLE STREETS WAS <br />REFERRED TO PLANNING COMM. <br />REFERRED TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION FOR RECOMMENDATION. <br />A MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER, SECONDED BY MR. DAVIS THAT VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND <br />MATTER RE: POWER FAILURE <br />VA. ELEC. 8c POWER CO. POWER COMPANY BE REQUESTED TO GIVE AN EXPLANATION OF THE RECENT POWER FAILURE <br />IN THE CITY AND STATE WHAT IS BEING DONE TO PREVENT FUTURE OCCURANCES WAS UNANIMOUSLY <br />ADOPTED. <br />ON MOTION BY MR. DAVIS, SECONDED BY MR. WEINBERG, THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION <br />WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED: <br />WHEREAS THE ATTORNEY FOR THE CHARLOTTESVILLE REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING <br />AUTHORITY HAS REQUESTED A RESOlUT10N BY THIS COUNCIL PERTAINING TO THE SALE OF THE <br />RESOLUTION RE: SALE OF CITY PARKING LOT THAT LIES WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF THE VINEGAR HILL REDEVELOPMENT <br />CITY PARKING LOT TO <br />CH~VILLE REDEVEL. & HOUSING PROJECT TO THE AUTHORITY. <br />AUTHORITY <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE THAT THE <br />CITY WILL SELL TO THE CHARLOTTESVILLE REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY THE <br />CITY PARKING LOT THAT LIES IN THE VINEGAR HILL REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT AT A PRICE <br />TO BE DETERMINED BY NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN THIS COUNCIL AND THE CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THIS RESOLUTION SHALL BE BINDING UPON SAID <br />COUNCIL ONLY IF BOTH QUESTIONS ON THE REFERENDUM ON HOUSING TO BE HELD JUNE 14, 1960 <br />ARE APPROVED BY THE VOTERS OF THIS CITY. <br />THE CITY ATTORNEY REPORTED THAT ACCURATE FIGURES FROM THE CLERKtS OFFICE SHOW <br />A TOTAL OF $36,414.30 IN STATE TAXES ON TRANSFER OF DEEDS WAS PAID TO THE STATE IN <br />CITY ATTY, REPORTS RE: <br />TAXES ON PROBATE OF WILLS 1959. A SIMILAR TAX ON THE PROBATE OF WILLS AMOUNTED TO $4,233.00. THE STATE Law <br />AND TRANSFER OF DEEDS - <br />REFERRED TO FINANCE COMM. PROVIDES THAT THE CITY MAY LEVY A TAX EQUAL. TO ONE THIRD OF THE STATE TAX ON THE <br />TRANSFER OF DEEDS AND PROBATE OF WILLS, THEREFORE, IF THE COUNCIL DECIDED TO LEVY <br />SUCH TAXES IT WOULD RESULT IN APPROXIMATELY $13,550.00 ADDITIONAL REVENUE. ON <br />MOTION BY MR. SCRIBNER, SECONDED BY MR. COLEMAN, THIS MATTER WAS REFERRED TO THE <br />FINANCE COMMITTEE FOR RECOMMENDATION. <br />A COMMUNICATION FROM COLONIAL. RITES COMPANY REQUESTING SOME RELIEF FROM THE <br />REQUEST RE: RELIEF FROM <br />SIGN ORDINANCE - COLONIAL RITES SIGN ORDINANCE FOR THE SIGN ON THE NEW ROSEtS STORE ON MAIN STREET WAS REFERRED <br />Co. <br />TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION FOR RECOMMENDATION. <br />THE RESOLUTION APPROPRIATING $3,183.90 FOR ATTORNEYS FEE RE: CHARLOTTESVILLE <br />APPROPRIATION RE: REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY V. CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE WHICH WAS OFFERED AT <br />ATTORNEY S FEE - CHVILLE. <br />REDEVEL. 8c HOUSING AUTHORITY THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL ON MAY 2, 1960, WAS ADOPTED BY THE FOLLOWING RECORDED <br />V.
