NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Monday, May 7, 2007 AT 6:00 p.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference Room THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: Closed session as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM – May 7, 2007 Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Dr. Brown, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. On motion by Mr. Taliaferro, seconded by Mr. Norris, Council voted (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None) to meet in closed session for a performance review of the City Manager as authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) of the Virginia Code, and consultation with legal counsel regarding the negotiation of the terms and conditions of a cost sharing agreement with Albemarle County for solid waste disposal costs, as authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(7) of the Virginia Code. On motion by Mr. Lynch, seconded by Mr. Taliaferro, Council certified by the following vote (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only public business matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed session were heard, discussed or considered in the closed session. COUNCIL CHAMBER – May 7, 2007 Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: Dr. Brown, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. ANNOUNCEMENTS Mr. Lynch announced a citizen information meeting regarding the design phase of Hillsdale Drive Extension on May 8, a City Council candidates forum on May 10, and a School Board candidate information meeting on May 12. Mr. Taliaferro said he will bring up a request for funding for bike lights by ACCT and the issue of the charge for retiree spouses’ health care during other business. Mr. Norris said he will bring up elimination of bus routes and the process for bringing forward proposals from the Sustainability Committee during other business. Mr. Lynch said he will bring up writing a letter of interest to purchase wind power during other business. Mr. O’Connell introduced Kerry Goode, the City’s new Information Technology Director. AWARDS/RECOGNITIONS : CHS SCHOLASTIC GBOWL TEAM; CITY OF ONE CAMPAIGN PROCLAMATION; MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH PROCLAMATION Dr. Brown noted that the City has been recognized as a “Green City” by Country Home Magazine. Dr. Brown presented the Mental Health Awareness Month Proclamation.
