<br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE <br />HELD ON Monday, June 4, 2007 AT 6:00 p.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference <br />Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Closed session as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox <br /> <br />SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM – June 4, 2007 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Taliaferro, seconded by Mr. Norris, Council voted to meet in <br />closed session (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: <br />None. Absent for the vote: Mr. Lynch) for performance evaluations of specific City <br />employees, as authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) of the Virginia Code; and <br />consultation with legal counsel and briefing by staff members regarding the negotiation <br />of the terms and conditions of a cost sharing agreement between the City of <br />Charlottesville and the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority for solid waste disposal costs, and <br />probably litigation relating thereto, where such briefing and consultation n an open <br />meeting would adversely affect the negotiating and litigating posture of the City, as <br />authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(7) of the Virginia Code. <br /> <br /> On motion b Mr. Taliaferro, seconded by Mr. Norris, Council certified by the <br />following vote (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. <br />Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only public business <br />matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the Virginia Freedom <br />of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed session were heard, <br />discussed or considered in the closed session. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER – June 4, 2007 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br /> Mr. Fred Hutchinson, Regional Representative for Senator Jim Webb, offered his <br />assistance to City Council and citizens of Charlottesville. <br /> <br /> National Geographic photographer, Nick Nichols, and Jessica Nagle announced <br />that the Festival of the Book is taking place along the downtown mall. Mr. Nichols <br />encouraged Council to give him feedback about the Festival, which he said he hopes will <br />become an annual event. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris announced that a public meeting regarding changes to bus route 6 will <br />th <br />be held on June 5. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said that he will bring up the question of a property’s historic <br />designation in Woolen Mills and the mall crossing evaluation during other business. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lynch said that the City is aggressively enforcing the leash law on the <br />Greenbelt Trail at Riverview Park, and he encouraged dog owners to follow the law <br />which allows dogs off leash on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays only. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> <br />
