13
Mr. Overton McGee, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity, thanked
Council for their support of affordable housing. He said the Task Force and staff are to
be commended for the speed of their recommendation.

Mr. Ernie Reed, 610 Farish Avenue, expressed concern about the VDOT style
public hearing held on the 250/McIntire Road interchange. He said the public was only
allowed to speak to a stenographer and the comments have not been made available to the
public. He asked Council to ask VDOT to hold a traditional style public hearing.

Ms. Colette Hall, 101 Robertson Lane, asked if someone needs to call 911 in the
future can they request a free versus a fee service. Ms. Hall asked that comments be
made available from Wise and Louisa Counties regarding the Clean Energy resolution
and copies of the e-mails were given to her. Ms. Hall thanked Mr. Lynch and Ms.
Hamilton for their service on Council, especially Mr. Lynch for his fiscal responsibility.

OTHER BUSINESS

Mr. Lynch said he supports Dr. Mooney’s suggestion about the South Fork
reservoir. He said we ultimately have to solve the problem.

Mr. Norris said more information has been requested regarding the Reservoir.

Mr. O’Connell said that Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority is looking at long
term maintenance of the Reservoir.

Dr. Brown said Dr. Mooney made a good suggestion, but he is not sure it is the
right suggestion. He said the County is a major player and we should discuss the
appropriate structure for a group with the Board of Supervisors.

Mr. Norris noted that there are also a number of local groups that should be
involved.

Dr. Brown said that RWSA could sponsor a community event

Mr. Norris said that RWSA seems to have made up its mind.

Dr. Brown said RWSA has agreed to the water supply plan, but an unanswered
question is whether the community wants to invest in the South Fork Reservoir.

Mr. Norris said it is vitally important to engage the County.

Dr. Brown suggested having a conservation with RWSA and members of the
Board of Supervisors and bring it up again at a future meeting.

Dr. Brown said that Mr. Reed makes a good point about the VDOT public
hearing, and he asked the City Manager to obtain and make available the public
comments.

Mr. Taliaferro asked if we can ask VDOT to do an open public hearing.

Dr. Brown said VDOT can be asked to do a meeting that has an informative phase
and then an open public hearing.

The meeting was adjourned.

______________________________ ______________________________
President Clerk
