WHEREAS, <br /> rainfall in the second half of December, 2007 measurably improved <br />the water levels in the urban reservoirs that supply water to the City; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> on January 2, 2008 the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority <br />announced that as a result in the increase in the water supply, the Authority’s Drought <br />Warning was lifted, but that a Drought Watch remained in effect; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> City Code sec. 31-125 provides that Drought Warning Stage <br />Restrictions shall remain in effect until City Council determines that a water emergency <br />in the City of Charlottesville no longer exists. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council for the City of <br />Charlottesville that a water supply emergency within the City of Charlottesville no longer <br />exists, and the mandatory restrictions imposed on August 16, 2007 are no longer in <br />effect. <br /> <br /> Mr. O’Connell recommended that VDOT be requested to hold a traditional public <br />hearing the next time the Committee makes a recommendation which could be as early as <br />the middle of February. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />______________________________ ____________________________ <br />President Clerk <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
