3 <br /> Mr. Norris agreed with comments made by Councilors about Mr. Mitchell. He <br />said we have learned a lot as a community from this situation. He said it was a spark for <br />creating the pedestrian safety committee. He said we are looking at the possibility of re- <br />establishing a citizens advisory committee for the Police Department. He assured Mr. <br />Sampson that his comments are well taken, and said a large portion of the surplus will be <br />used for infrastructure costs. He said he appreciates Dr. Mooney’s idea about dredging <br />and thinks it merits further exploration, but said he is not interested in going back to <br />square one regarding the water supply plan. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS <br />: BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Brow, seconded by Mr. Taliaferro, Mr. Brian Hemmert was <br />appointed to an unexpired term as the joint City/County private service provider on the <br />Charlottesville-Albemarle Commission on Children and Families by the following vote. <br />Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None. <br />This term will expire on June 30, 2009. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Taliaferro, Mr. Sean O’Brien was <br />reappointed to a three-year term on the Public Defender’s Advisory Committee by the <br />following vote. Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. <br />Noes: None. This term will expire on December 31, 2010. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Taliaferro, Mr. Jeffrey Greer was <br />appointed to a two year-term as the joint City/County appointee and Chair, and Mr. Chad <br />Crabtree and Mr. Kevin O’Martin were appointed to two-year terms on the Rivanna Solid <br />Waste Advisory Committee by the following vote. Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. <br />Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None. These terms will expire on December 31, <br />2009. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Taliaferro, Ms. Janyce Lewis was <br />appointed to the Citizens Committee on Environmental Sustainability by the following <br />vote.
