NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Monday, March 3, 2008 AT 5:00 p.m. IN THE Basement Conference Room. THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: Interviews: Planning Commission (interviews will be open to the public for observation only) Closed session as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox BASEMENT CONFERENCE ROOM – March 3, 2008 Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Council interviewed the following candidates for the Planning Commission: John Santoski, Michael Masters, Christopher Worley, William Emory, Dan Rosensweig, Richard Berman. On motion by Mr. Taliaferro, seconded by Dr. Brown, Council voted to meet in closed session for discussion and consideration of appointments to City boards and commissions, as authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) of the Virginia Code. On motion by Mr. Taliaferro, seconded by Dr. Brown, Council certified by the following vote (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only public business matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed session were heard, discussed or considered in the closed session. COUNCIL CHAMBER – March 3, 2008 Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. ANNOUNCEMENTS Mr. Norris announced that there will be a public meeting regarding the McIntire Park Master Plan on Tuesday. Mr. Norris welcomed Mr. Maurice Jones, former Communications Director and new Assistant City Manager. Dr. Brown announced the grand opening of “City Space” at the Charlottesville Community Design Center on Friday. Mr. Norris said he will bring up the issue of the next step for the Eastern Connector process and a possible work session on the next steps for the water supply plan during other business. AWARDS/RECOGNITIONS : BOOK FESTIVAL PROCLAMATION; MEDIATION MONTH PROCLAMATION; NUTRITION MONTH PROCLAMATION; REGISTERED DIETITIAN DAY PROCLAMATION Mr. Norris presented proclamations for the Book Festival, Mediation Month; Nutrition Month and Registered Dietitian Day. PUBLIC Ms. Tammy Londeree, 813 Locust Avenue, Apt. C, said she appreciated Ms. Edwards’ comments at the last meeting about Gerry Mitchell. She said she would like to
