NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Monday, April 7, 2008 AT 6:15 p.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference Room (relocated to the Neighborhood Development Services Conference Room). THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: Closed session as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT SERVICES CONFERENCE ROOM – April 7, 2008 Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Ms. Edwards, Council voted (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None) to meet in closed session for consultation with legal counsel regarding the negotiation of the terms and conditions of a proposed cost allocation agreement with the Albemarle County Service Authority as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code. On motion by Mr. Taliaferro, seconded by Mr. Huja, Council certified by the following vote (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only public business matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed session were heard, discussed or considered in the closed session. COUNCIL CHAMBER – April 7, 2008 Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. ANNOUNCEMENTS Mr. Norris said that the City is offering a tour of a recycling plant in Chester for anyone interested in participating. He said there will be a charrette on the design of McIntire Park on April 12. Mr. Taliaferro said that the newly formed Charlottesville Fire Corps is in need of volunteers. Ms. Edwards said that April is annual Women and Girls Health Month. She said th that Women’s Health Day will be held on May 29 at Westhaven Clinic. Dr. Brown said he would like to discuss the cost of retirement during other business in response to comments by Jim Moore at the last meeting. AWARDS/RECOGNITIONS : MONTH OF THE YOUNG CHILD PROCLAMATION; FAIR HOUSING PROCLAMATION; ARBOR DAY PROCLAMATION; AMERICORPS Mr. Norris presented proclamations for Month of the Young Child, Fair Housing Month, and Arbor Day. Mr. Norris recognized volunteers from AmeriCorps who are jumpstarting the eradication of invasive plant species in City parks and schools.
