9 <br /> Mr. Huja asked if it would be possible to expand the pond, but Ms. Janiczek said <br />the Committee wanted to build it into the landscape and avoid grading and removing <br />trees. She said a large one would not really work. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown thanked the Committee and staff for their work on the concept, and <br />moved the resolution. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja seconded the motion. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said a good job was done with the plan, even though he does not like <br />the road. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said that Peggy Van Yahres, Committee member, thought we should <br />give thoughtful attention to the landscaping of all of the Parkway. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja asked if purifying fountains will be included, and Ms. Janiczek said no, <br />that a more natural approach is recommended. <br /> <br /> The resolution approving the concept for the McIntire Road Extended pond <br />design was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, <br />Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, <br />a committee (composed of City staff, VDOT representatives, <br />landscape professionals, etc.) was appointed by City Council to evaluate the design of <br />storm water management facilities for the McIntire Road Extended project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> , the committee has submitted its recommendation for the design of <br />storm water management facilities which will best blend with the natural contour and <br />landscaping of McIntire Park, with an emphasis on rain gardens; now, therefore <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that <br />this Council hereby approves in concept the storm water management design shown on <br />the attached two (2) drawings (Concept Plan and Concept Perspective) by Land Planning <br />& Design Associates, dated May 5, 2008. <br /> <br />ND <br />PUBLIC HEARING/RESOLUTION <br />: LEASE OF 201 2 STREET, N.W. TO <br />MCGUFFEY ARTS ASSOCIATION <br /> <br /> Mr. Lance Stewart, Facilities Maintenance Manager, said that the City has had a <br />lease with the McGuffey Arts Center since 1975. He said a five-year lease is <br />recommended. <br /> <br /> The public hearing was opened, but as there were no speakers, the public hearing <br />was closed. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja made a motion to approve the lease. He said McGuffey is a great asset <br />to our community. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown seconded the motion. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said the McGuffey Artists Association would like to engage with the <br />City to work on a strategic planning process, and he asked that that be added as a <br />condition. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja accepted Mr. Norris’ amendment. <br /> <br />nd <br /> The resolution approving the lease of 201 2 Street, N.W. to McGuffey Arts <br />Center, as amended, was approved by the following vote.
