NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Tuesday, December 9, 2008 AT 4:30 p.m. IN THE Basement Conference Room. THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: Interviews: Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority and Rivanna Solid Waste Authority (interviews are open to the public for observation only) Closed session as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox BASEMENT CONFERENCE ROOM – December 9, 2008 Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Council interviewed the following candidates for the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority and Rivanna Solid Waste Authority: Richard C. Collins, Alex Foraste, Michael Gaffney, Mary C, Huey (telephone interview), Bruce Sherman, Donald E. Sours, Sr. (telephone interview), and Michel Van Yahres. On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Huja, Council voted (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None.) to meet in closed session for discussion and consideration of prospective candidates for appointment to City boards and commissions, including the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority and the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority, as authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) of the Virginia Code. On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Taliaferro, Council certified by the following vote (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only public business matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed session were heard, discussed or considered in the closed session.
