10 <br /> Ms. Edwards said they said their intent is to improve and maintain the property. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tolbert said they originally wanted to purchase more land, but their request <br />changed when they could just get a small piece of land. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cass Kawecki, son of the property owner, Dr. Free, said he teaches a real <br />estate course, and the only way he could determine the worth of the property was to <br />determine what impact the additional property would have on the land. He said they <br />never had any intention to develop it, but he wanted to determine the cost per square foot. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mark Kavit, 400 Altamont Street, said the parcel could be divided. He said a <br />future property owner may want to development it. He said a simple solution would be <br />to take the land and put it into an “adopt a plot” program where it would be maintained. <br />He said he would like to close the alley between his property and Dr. Free’s. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said he basically agreed with Mr. Huja. He said he does not think five <br />or six units is a problem. He said the Frees have done a great job with that property and <br />it speaks to their intent. He said he favors selling the land to them. <br /> <br /> Ms. Edwards said she favors selling the land. She said she agrees with the idea of <br />putting up a sign on land proposed to be sold. She said there should be more <br />communication between neighbors. <br /> <br /> The ordinance “AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF <br />LAND AT THE INTERSECTION OF WEST HIGH STREET AND MCINTIRE ROAD, <br />th <br />TO DR. KATHLEEN FREE,” which was offered at the April 20 meeting, was approved <br />by the following vote. Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: <br />None. Absent: Mr. Norris. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Taliaferro, Mr. Tolbert said that for rezonings <br />signs are posted and everyone is notified that lives within 500 feet of the property, as well <br />as the neighborhood association. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br />th <br /> Mr. Huja reminded people of the democratic primary on May 9. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said that the date of republican primary will be announced if the City <br />is notified about it. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />______________________________ ______________________________ <br />President Clerk <br />
