<br />COUNCIL CHAMBER – June 1, 2009 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Absent: Mr. Huja. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br /> Ms. Edwards announced a free financial workshop to be held. She noted that she <br />has received an invitation to Charlottesville High School graduation. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said June 11 - 13 is the third year of the Festival of the Photograph. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris said he would like to add initiation of the process to amend the <br />McIntire Park master plan to maintain softball fields on the west side of the park to other <br />business. <br /> <br />AWARDS/RECOGNITIONS <br />: VINCENT TORNELLO <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris presented an proclamation to Vincent Tornello, retiring band director <br />at Charlottesville High School. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Ms. Colette Hall, 101 Robertson Lane, said it is time for the City to get out of the <br />solid waste business. <br /> <br />COUNCIL RESPONSES TO MATTERS BY THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said he thinks having City government involved in solid waste <br />continues to be in our interest. He said our recycling program creates financial incentives <br />to recycle. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Taliaferro, seconded by Dr. Brown, the following consent <br />agenda items were approved by the following vote. Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. <br />Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None. Absent: Mr. Huja. <br /> <br /> <br />a.Minutes of May 4 <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION <br />b. : $9,416 – Police Department Foundation Contribution <br />nd <br /> (2 reading) <br /> <br /> WHEREAS <br />, the City of Charlottesville, through the Police Department, has <br />received a Charlottesville Police Department Foundation contribution in the amount of <br />$9,416 to send two supervisors to Command College for leadership training and two <br />School Resource Officers for training at the 2009 National Conference of the National <br />Association of School Resource Officers; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED <br /> by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of $9,416.00, received from the Charlottesville <br />Police Department Foundation, is hereby appropriated in the following manner: <br /> <br />Revenue – $9,416 <br />$9,416 Fund: 105 Cost Center: 3101001000 G/L Account: 451020 <br /> <br />Expenditures - $9,416 <br />$9,416 Fund: 105 Cost Center: 3101001000 G/L Account: 530210 <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED <br />, that this appropriation is conditioned upon the <br />receipt of $9,416 from the Charlottesville Police Department Foundation. <br /> <br /> <br />
