2 <br /> Mr. Stratton Salidas, 704 Graves Street, appealed to Council to protect our central <br />park and follow state and federal laws regarding the Meadow Creek Parkway. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dede Smith, 2652 Jefferson Park Circle, said she would like to clear up <br />misleading information regarding the water supply and the four-party agreement and <br />water usage, especially at U. Va. <br /> <br /> Ms. Betty Mooney, 201 Sunset Avenue, said $4 million has been paid mostly for <br />information that cannot be used regarding the water supply. She said it is wrong for City <br />residents to have to pay for the dam. <br /> <br />th <br /> Mr. Francis Fife, 501 9 Street, S.W., urged Council to remind Rivanna Water <br />and Sewer Authority about the feasibility study of dredging. He said dredging could save <br />significant money. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tomas Rahal, 501 Monticello Road, spoke about development in Belmont <br />and the City’s commitment to a plan for traffic, parking and noise. He said his restaurant <br />MAS, has committed resources to address the situation. <br /> <br /> Ms. Colette Hall, 101 Robertson Lane, said VDOT’s contention that they must <br />close Rio Road during construction of the Meadow Creek Parkway is bogus. <br /> <br /> Ms. Allison Ruffner, 735 Graves Street, said the City is shifting away from <br />neighborhood commercial development in Belmont. She said other commercial <br />properties are available to the applicant requesting the rezoning on Hinton Avenue. <br /> <br /> Ms. Eleanor Biasiolli, 622 Evergreen Avenue, said she is aware that <br />Neighborhood Development Services is looking at issues in Belmont. She said it is not a <br />public necessity to take homes out of residential zoning. <br /> <br /> Ms. Julia Williams, 751 Belmont Avenue, said people in Belmont feel they are <br />not being heard. She said development should be allowed without jeopardizing <br />residential areas. <br /> <br />COUNCIL RESPONSES TO MATTERS BY THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown expressed concern about people being allowed to talk about the Hinton <br />Avenue rezoning since a public hearing has previously been held. <br /> <br /> Mr. Taliaferro asked the City Manager to look at permit parking signage on South <br />Street. <br /> <br /> Ms. Edwards thanked Mr. Long for his comments about public transportation. <br />She agreed signage on South Street should be looked at. She said Council should have a <br />conversation about public comment. She encouraged citizens to apply for the vacancy on <br />the Planning Commission and other boards. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja said he supports most of Mr. Long’s comments if we could figure out a <br />way to pay for his suggestions. <br /> <br /> Dr. Brown said if Council wants to revisit its public comment policy, we should <br />either allow all to make comments or none. He said we should make sure we follow the <br />rules that Council has established. <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris appreciates Mr. Rahal’s ideas about Belmont. He said he looks <br />forward to discussing it further. <br /> <br /> Mr. Taliaferro said Council wants to get all the facts on dredging before <br />proceeding. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br /> <br />
