10 Mr. Brown said the Planning Commission recommendation regarding pedestrian safety is lacking in specifics. Ms. Edwards said she opposed selling City land for this development and still opposes the project. On motion by Mr. Huja, seconded by Dr. Brown, who said a lot of work has gone into making this a good plan, the ordinance entitled “AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A REQUEST TO REZONE PROPERTIES LOCATED ON CHERRY AVENUE AND RIDGE STREET TO PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT (PUD)” was offered and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. OTHER BUSINESS Mr. Norris said that Charlottesville is a member of the Clean Climate communities, and he asked Council to authorize sending a letter to Senators Webb and Warner. On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Ms. Edwards, the proposed letter was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Mr. Taliaferro. Noes: None. rd Mr. O’Connell confirmed that Council will hold a December 3 work session on thst the budget, that there will be no October 19 meeting, and that the December 21 meeting will be held. PUBLIC Ms. Dede Smith thanked Councilors for their questions during the water report. She said she is upset by Mr. Frederick’s comments about I-64. She said water demand is still down and there is nothing more fundamental than that. Ms. Betty Mooney said she was shocked by what she heard during the water report and with the comments about the cost of replacing the dam being more than a new dam. She said if Council thinks Mr. Frederick is lying he should be fired. She said she wants to see in writing the comments made by the consultant. Mr. Richard Lloyd said we need to get a sense of what is really going on with the water demand. He said we can dredge for 30 years to keep ahead of the demand. He said we cannot get an estimate of the cost of the pipeline by looking at the length. The meeting was adjourned. ______________________________ _____________________________ President Clerk
