9
is densely populated and currently is furthest from emergency fire and rescue response;
and

WHEREAS
, the City Manager has signed a Land Purchase Agreement to
purchase said Property for $775,000.00, conditioned upon City Council approval of such

purchase; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED
by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that
this Council hereby approves the purchase of the above-described tract of land for the
purchase price of $775,000.00. The City Attorney is directed to take all steps necessary
to effect this property acquisition.

PUBLIC

Mr. Peter Kleeman, 407 Hedge Street thanked Mr. Watts for his efforts in getting
the fountains on the mall working.

Ms. Dede Smith, 2652 Jefferson Park Circle, said that it is a myth that the water
supply plan is necessary to restore the Moorman’s River. She said there is currently 80%
natural flow. She said that the rivers by the City could use mitigation more than County
rivers.

Ms. Betty Mooney, 201 Sunset Avenue, said it is a myth that the Ragged
Mountain dam could collapse with catastrophic results. She asked how much of the
water plan is about County growth.

Dr. Brown said when Kevin Lynch was on Council he felt strongly that mitigation
should include City water, but the regulators said over and over that the same type of
stream needed to be mitigated as what was impacted.

The meeting was adjourned.

______________________________ ______________________________
President Clerk
