<br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE <br />HELD ON Monday, April 5, 2010 AT 6:00 p.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference <br />Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Closed session as provided by Section 2.2-3712 of the Virginia Code <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox <br /> <br />SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM – April 5, 2010 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Ms. Szakos. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Huja, Council voted (Ayes: Dr. <br />Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Ms. Szakos. Noes: None) to meeting in <br />closed session for consultation with legal counsel regarding the following specific legal <br />matters: 1) the negotiation of the terms and conditions of an extension of a fire services <br />agreement between the City and Albemarle County; 2) the negotiation of the terms and <br />conditions of an extension of a fire services agreement between the City and the <br />University of Virginia; and 3) the construction of the Stadium Road sanitary sewer <br />collector line and state environmental requirements regarding sanitary sewer overflows as <br />authorized by Section 2.2-3711(A)(7) of the Virginia Code. <br /> <br /> <br />On motion by Ms. Szakos, seconded by Dr. Brown, Council certified by the <br />following vote (Ayes: Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Ms. Szakos. <br />Noes: None) that to the best of each Council Member's knowledge, only public business <br />matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the Virginia Freedom <br />of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed session were heard, <br />discussed or considered in the closed session. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER – April 5, 2010 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the following members present: <br />Dr. Brown, Ms. Edwards, Mr. Huja, Mr. Norris, Ms. Szakos. <br /> <br />AWARDS/RECOGNITIONS <br />: CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH; MADISON <br />HOUSE ANNIVERSARY; FAIR HOUSING MONTH; GARY O’CONNELL <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris presented proclamations fro Fair Housing Month, the anniversary of <br />Madison Housing, and Child Abuse Prevention Month. He also presented a proclamation <br />to outgoing City Manager Gary O’Connell thanking him for his 28 years of service to the <br />City. <br /> Mr. O’Connell said it has been a great journey and opportunity. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br /> Mr. Norris announced that there will be a third day of City Market on Tuesday <br />evenings at Pen Park. He said the City and Albemarle County have been in competition <br />for the most census forms returned and unfortunately the City has only had 60% returned <br />as opposed to the County’s 67%. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja added the Fire Services Agreement with the University of Virginia <br />during other business. <br /> <br /> Ms. Szakos added appointment of a new Clerk of Council to other business. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> <br />
