Council agreed to provide the $4,000 to the Department of Social Services for the Community Assessment Program operated by the Salvation Army. Ms. Daugherty said she wants to show support for the Free Clinic by providing the $5,000 one-time funding to help solicit funding from other sources, but she does not favor the City funding the ongoing operating costs of the Clinic. It was agreed that if the funding ceases to be available for the new positions in the Commonwealth's Attorney office then the positions will be eliminated. Edwards, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Toscano, Mr. Vandever. PUBLIC Mr. Dominick Gill, representing the University of Virginia Student Council, requested that Council adopt a resolution proclaiming the week of April 13th as "Sharing Charlottesville" week. On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the resolution proclaiming "Sharing Charlottesville" week was unanimously approved by Council. WHEREAS, the City of Charlottesville includes within its community the citizens of Charlottesville and the students of the University of Virginia; and WHEREAS, those citizens and students share many common concerns, needs, and goals; and WHEREAS, those citizens and students believe that a healthy relationship between them is vital to creating an overall harmony in the Charlottesville area; and WHEREAS, the entire community would benefit from the setting aside of a week to concentrate its efforts toward promoting interaction and understanding among its members; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the time period of April 13th through April 20th be set aside for this purpose and be called "Sharing Charlottesville," and THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council and the University of Virginia Student Council pledge themselves to the maintenance of goodwill and understanding between the two communities. CONSENT AGENDA Approval of the April 1 st minutes was deferred, and the ordinance regarding marquee signs was removed from the consent agenda. On motion by Rev.
