81 <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Vandever, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, the following consent agenda <br />items were unanimously approved by Council: <br /> <br />a. Minutes of April 1, 15, 17 and 22 <br /> <br />b. APPROPRIATION: $2,229,891 - Job Training and Partnership Act - FY 96/97 <br /> (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that all <br />amounts received from the Governor's Employment and Training Department of the <br />Commonwealth of Virginia pursuant to the Job Training Partnership Act (including <br />unexpended balances carried forward from prior years), estimated to total $2,229,890.78, are <br />hereby appropriated to the JTPA Fund, to be expended by the Piedmont Job Training <br />Administration on authorization from the City Ivlanager or his designee, and in accordance <br />with applicable state and federal laws and regulations, to carry out the purposes of the Act. <br /> <br />c. APPROP1}JATION: $523,550 - Greenbrier School Renovation (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that the <br />sum of $523,550.00 is hereby appropriated to account code 26-18 t- 122029 as additional <br />funding for renovations at Greenbrier Elementary School, 'bringing the total construction cost <br />to $2,232,366. The amount appropriated herein shall be obtained from the following <br />sources: <br /> <br />Source Amount Account Code <br /> <br />Capital Fund Contingency (FY96-97) <br /> <br />$403,550 <br /> <br />26-020-122050 <br /> <br />Transfer from Capital Fund Project "Education/$ 75,000 <br />Parking Lot Reconstruction" (FY96-97) <br /> <br />26-310-081116 <br /> <br />Charlottesville Public School Operating Fund $ 45,000 <br /> <br />pJa <br /> <br /> This appropriation is conditioned upon receipt of $45,000 from the Charlottesville <br />Public Schools operating fund for fiscal year 1996-97. <br /> <br />d. APPROPRIATION: CDBG Reprogramming (carried over) <br /> <br />e. APPROPRIATION: $19,350 - Water Street Parking Garage Project Close-ont <br /> (carried over) <br /> <br />f. ORDINANCE: "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND <br /> DISCONT1NLrlNG AN ALLEY OFF NALLE STREET" (carried over) <br /> <br />REPORT: "OPEN FOR BUSINESS" <br /> <br /> Mr. Jim Gahres, Director of Economic Development, explained that he will regularly <br />announce new businesses that have opened in the City, as well as existing businesses that <br />have undergone major expansions in order to provide publicity to the businesses as well as <br />notify citizens of positive changes and growth occurring in the City. <br /> <br /> Mr. Phil Wendall, owner of Atlantic Coast Athletic Club (ACAC), announced that the <br />downtown ACAC has expanded by more than 35%. <br /> <br />REPORT: ALBEMARLE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY ANNUAL REPORT <br /> <br /> Ms. Lyn Eley, Executive Director of the Albemarle County Historical Society, <br />reviewed major accomplishments of the Society during the past year: free expanded exhibits; <br /> <br /> <br />
