110 <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell noted that four lots have been identified as possible future parking sites <br />along West Main Street. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja noted that once the train station is developed the lot adjacent to it will be <br />safer. <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter asked if it would be possible to build a parking deck on the northwest <br />section of the train station property, but Mr. Huja noted that air rights exist on a corner of the <br /> <br />property. <br /> <br />Council expressed interest in staff pursuing the lots identified for parking. <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell announced that the Olympic Torch will be passing through <br />Charlottesville on Friday, June 21 st. <br /> <br />Mr. O'Connell thanked staff for their working in securing the AAA bond rating. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, Council unanimously voted <br />to meet in executive session for the purpose of discussing appointments to boards and <br />commissions, and reviewing performance evaluations of two City employees, as authorized <br />by Section 2.1-344(A)(1) of the Virginia Code, and for the purpose of consultation with legal <br />counsel and briefings by staff members, consultants or attorneys, pertaining to actual or <br />probable litigation, or other specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal adT6ce by <br />counsel, as authorized by Section 2.1-344(A)(7) of the Virginia Code. <br /> <br /> Council reeonvened in open session and, on motion by Ms. Slaughter, seconded by' Ms. <br />Daugherty, certified that, to the best of each member's knowledge, (i) oniy public business <br />matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by Virginia law were discussed in <br />the executive meeting to w~deh this certification resolution applies, and (ii) only such public <br />business matters as were identified in the motion convening the executive meeting were <br />heard, discussed or considered by the Council. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS: BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev-. Edwards, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, Council unardmously <br /> ' n Board for Aging. <br />appointed Ms. Denise Dezio to an unexpired term on the jefferso Area <br />This term will expire on April I, 1997. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, Mr. Ferdinand Bazin was <br />unanimously appointed to a two-year term on the Jefferson Area Board for Aging Adviso~ <br />Council on Aging. This term will expire on March 31, 1998. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev'. Edwards, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, Ms. Elizabeth Waters was <br />unardmously appointed to a four-year term on the Piedmont Virginia Comtmunity College <br />Board. This term will expire on June 30, 2000. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, ['dr. Preston Coiner was <br />unanimously reappointed to a two-year term on the Rivanna Solid Waste Advisory <br />Committee.
