APPROPRIATION: $22,170 - Respect Equals Success Grant (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that the sum <br />of $22,170.00, to be received as a grant from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice <br />Services, is hereby appropriated to expenditure account 11-020-062084 for continued <br />operation of the project lmown as "Respect Equals Success", an intervention program for <br />middle school children with a history of assaukive behaviors. <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />e. APPROPRIATION: $5,100 - HOO Bus (carried over) <br /> <br />f. RESOLUTION: Proclaiming American Education Week <br /> <br />WHEREAS, today's students will be the leaders of tomorrow; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, schools provide the educational foundation for our country's citizens; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, schools represent the diversity of cultures that make our country strong; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, schools encourage students to strive to do their best and provide the <br />opportunity to learn life skills; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, schools are a common denominator in passing on the vision of <br />democracy; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, schools strive to bridge the skills of the past to the skills needed for the <br />present and future; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, schools share the responsibility of educating our children with their <br />parents and the community; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, "The Future Begins in Today's Schools" is the theme of American <br />Education Week; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, we, the City Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, do <br />hereby proclaim the week of November 17 - 23, 1996 as AMERICAN EDUCATION WEEK <br />in Charlottesville, and encourage all citizens to show their commitment to public education <br />and to the future of our children by supporting our community's schools through their time <br />and energy. <br /> <br />g. ORDINANCE: <br />h. ORDINANCE: <br /> <br />CDBG and HOME Ordinance (2nd reading) <br />Downtown Business Signs (2nd reading) <br /> <br />i. ORDINANCE: Expanding Permit Parking Zone #3 (carded over) <br /> <br />j. ORDINANCE: Automobile Decal Placement (carried over) <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Ms. l~dchards said she would like to put the issue of an advisory referendum before a <br />vote on reversion on a future agenda with a public hearing. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox said that he feels a reversion discussion with the public should be held before a <br />referendum discussion. <br /> <br /> <br />
