110 <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Ms. Daugherty asked Councilors to study the report sent by the Director of Social <br />Services on the General Relief Program since funds for the program are running out and <br />Council will be asked early next year to make a decision about whether to appropriate <br />additional funds to continue the program. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Slaughter, seconded by Rev. Edwards, Council voted to meet in <br />executive session to discuSs appointments to boards and commission as provided by Section <br />2.1-344(a)(1) of the Virginia Code, with Mr. Vandever absent. <br /> <br /> Council reconvened lin open session and, on motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Ms. <br />Daugherty, certified that, to the best of each member's knowledge, (i) only public business <br />matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by Virginia law were discussed in <br />the executive meeting to which this certification resolution applies, and (ii) only such public <br />business matters as were identified in the motion convening the executive meeting were <br />heard, discussed or considered by the Council. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS: BO)d~DS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Slaughter, seconded by Rev. Edwards, Ms. Heather Gay and Mr. <br />Peter Parsons were unanimously reappointed to two-year terms on the Rivanna Solid Waste <br />Advisory Committee. These terms will expire on December 31, 1996. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Daugherty, seconded by Rev. Edwards, Ms. Martha Johnson, Mr. <br />Peter Kratzel, and Ms. Leyonne Yountz were unanimously appointed to four-year terms on <br />the Social Services Advisory Board. These terms will expire on June 30, 1998. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Slaughter, seconded by Rev. Edwards, Mr. Warren Boeschenstein <br />was unanimously reappointed to a three-year term on the Urban Design Committee. Edwards. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. Baughan Roemer, 11 Altamont Circle, stated that he was saddened to hear that <br />Eric Johnson, Victim Wit~3ess Coordinator in the Commonwealth's Attorney office, will be <br />leaving his job. Mr. Roer ~er stated that Mr. Johnson has _done an outstanding job dealing <br />with victims and thanked him on behalf of the community. <br /> <br /> <br />
