156 <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano asked that Council give their responses to Mr. Leon Churchill's softball <br />field memorandum. <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter stated that she thinks the Parks and Recreation Advisory Conunittee <br />should discuss the softball issue. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano thanked the Walton Middle School students for televising the Council <br />meeting. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Slaughter, seconded by Rev. Edwards, Council voted to meet in <br />executive session for the purpose of considering the acquisition or use of real property for <br />public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, more specifically described as: <br />property on t lth Street, N.W.; property on 5th Street Extended; property near the City yard <br />(4th Street, N.W.); property west of 2nd Street; property west of Avon Street; and property <br />on Avon Street Extended, and for the purpose of consultation with legal counsel concerning <br />matters pertaining to actual or probable litigation or other matters requiting legal advice, as <br />authorized by Section 2.1-344(a)(3) and (7) of the Virginia Code, with Mr. Vandever voting <br />against the motion. <br /> <br /> Council reconvened :in open session and, on motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Ms. <br />Slaughter, certified that, to the best of each member's knowledge, (i) only public business <br />matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by Virginia law were discussed in <br />the executive meeting to which this certification resolution applies, and (ii) only such public <br />business matters as were identified in the motion convening the executive meeting were <br />heard, discussed or considered by the Council. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br />President <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETl~gG <br /> <br />A SPECIAL. The schools are planning to submit an application to <br />the state for an additional four year old classroom. <br /> <br /> <br />
