168 <br /> <br />Staff was asked to find out more about the cleanup cost. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano suggested that staff could ask the developer that had been involved if it is <br />feasible to do what is proposed. <br /> <br /> Councilors expressed interest in talking to the developer and further exploring the <br />proposal. <br /> <br />Rehabilitation of historic properties <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter asked that staff prepare a report on how the revolving funds are being <br />used. <br /> <br />Regional Housing <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano stated that he feels more pressure needs to be put on surrounding <br />localities to provide affordable housing. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja stated that the matter will be discussed at a joint City and County Planning <br />Commission meeting. <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter aSked that staff let Council and the Charlottesville Redevelopment and <br />Housing Authority know the results of the meeting of the Planning Commissions. <br /> <br /> Rev. Edwards suggested that Earl Pullen, CRHA Director, be invited to the City/ <br />County Planning Commission meeting. <br /> <br />CHIP Funding Issue <br /> <br /> Ms. Linda Peacock, Budget Administrator, stated that CHIP has asked that carryover <br />funds from last year be returned to them for completion of jobs begun last year. <br /> Mr. Toscano suggested Ms. Peacock poll Councilors on the issue. <br /> <br />Downsizing Issue <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter noted that there are several properties available in the City which may be <br />more appropriately developed as residential rather than commercial, and recormnended that <br />Council consider downzoning some of these parcels, or encouraging PUDs and development <br />of middle income housing on them. <br /> <br /> Rev. Edwards stated that he would like to see the Planning Commission discuss the <br />issue. <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja stated that some of the parcels in question have been discussed by the <br />Planning Commission, and he said he will get that information to Council. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano stated that he will meet with Blake Caravati, Chairman of the Planning <br />Commission, to discuss the downzoning issue. <br /> <br />Action Plan <br /> <br />Ms. Daugherty stated that she thinks the Action Plan is a good plan. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano stated that he would recommend adding "pursue regional fair share <br />housing approach." <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />President <br /> <br /> <br />
