194 <br /> <br /> Mr. Conway reviewed the report prepared for the School Board, described consulting <br />activities and more specific goals and recommendations. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Vandever, Mr. Conway ~ated that the school's <br />efforts will be evaluated after a three-year period. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano stated that he thinks it is important to get the word out to the community <br />and to involve the community in the process. <br /> <br /> Dr. Shannon stated that the school will publicize the reports made to the board and will <br />attend and share information with PTOs at the various schools. <br /> <br /> Mr. Conway added that ways must be found to get the information into the grassroots <br />community, including churches and community organizations. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Toscano, Dr. Shannon stated that one measure of <br />success will be whether the schools are successful in bringing more of a diversity of teachers <br />into the system. Dr. Shannon added that she is attempting to set up a committee made up of <br />community representatives who could help welcome potential teachers and encourage them <br />to work in the city. <br /> <br /> Mr. Conway also suggested that eftbrts be made to look within the existing community <br />for potential future teachers, either helping people pursue their teaching degrees, or working <br />wi~h service fraternities or sororities to encourage their members to teach. <br /> <br /> Rev.
