Mi._n~tes of_AtL.aust i 4 and 2 i <br /> <br />b_ R~SOLUTiON: Proclaiming Domestic Violence Awareness Month <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the Commonwealth of Virginia 29,805 women and 8.640 children <br />sought domestic violence services from July i 993 to June 1994; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS. the Charlottesville community is committed to restoring the right to <br />freedom from fear in our own hom~; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in our ~luest to impsoe sanctions on those who break the taw bv <br />pemetratkng violence, we must also meet the needs of battered women aM their children who <br />often suffer grave financial, ~DhysicaL andpsvchologica! losses'_ and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the crime of domestic violence violates an individual's privacy, dignity, <br />security, and humanity; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ the impact of domestic violence is wide-ranging, directly affecti_ng women <br />and children and society as a whole, crossing all economic, racial, and societal boundaries: <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, we, the City Council of the City of CMrlottesviile~ do hereby <br />proclaim the month of October i 995 as DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH <br />and urge ali citizens to actively participate in the scheduled activities and pro,ams sponored <br />bv the Shelter for Helt} in Emergency to work toward the elimination of personal and <br />institutional violence a~inst women. <br /> <br />c. RESOLUTION: Approvin~ cafe permit for Hot Tomatoes Restaurant <br /> (1329 W. Main Street) <br /> <br /> WHEREAS_ Peter Dissin, on behalf of Hot Tomatoes Restaurant, has applied to City <br />Council for a r)ermit to or)erate an outdoor cafe at t329 West Ivlain S}reet in connection with <br />the operation of its duly licensed restaurant; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council finds that the r~roposed outdoor cafe can add significantly to <br />successful commerce in the Universitv Comer area_ will not unrea's<6nablv restrict the <br />movemegt of pedestria~ traffic and Will no, endanger the vubti¢ ~itiL safety or wetf~e; <br />now, therefore, '"~,;~--~. ~ , ?~- <br /> <br /> BE iT RESOLVED that Peter Diss~rL on 156tmlf. ot Hot T0ma,oes',~staurant~ is~,.~ <br />hereby, granted a permit to operate an outdoor cafe at 1}29 West Main Street subiect to the' <br />followin_a conditions and terms: :. ~, :.,? ,,, .,.,,'; '~ .'-.~......~..;~.~_ . :. <br /> <br /> <br />
