7I <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Wednesday, October 12, <br />1994 AT 12:00 noon IN THE Basement Conference Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Luncheon meeting with School Board <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR <br /> <br />BY Jeanne Cox (signed) <br /> <br />BASEMENT CONFERENCE ROOM- October 12, 1994 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Ms. <br />Daugherty, Rev. Edwards, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Toscano. Absent: Mr. Vandever. <br /> <br />Mr. Toscano welcomed Dr. Dorothea Shannon, new Superintendent of Schools. <br /> <br /> Mr. W. T. Lewis of the school administration, explained that the Alternative School <br />currently has 17 students enrOlled, a total of 23 is expected by the end of the month, and 30 <br />students are expected to be enrolled by the end of December. <br /> <br /> Dr. Shannon stated that a more definitive budget for the Alternative School would be <br />available in December. Dr. Shannon stated that no more than 30 students could be enrolled <br />in the program with the current staffing levels. <br /> <br /> With regard to the FY 95/96, Mr. Toscano told the School Board that Council had <br />tentatively agreed on continued funding for the CSOs in the schools out of the General Fund <br />and an allocation of up to $425,000 for the Alternative School, subject to reduction based on <br />the availability of grant funding for the program. <br /> <br /> It was agreed that discussion of the Performing Arts Center would be defen-ed to a <br />later date. <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter noted that at Council's retreat, the topic "Year of the Child" was <br />discussed, and recommended that some consideration be given to holding a public forum to <br />discuss in-school and out-of-school education of youth. <br /> <br />~~The meeting ~~ed. <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY COUNCIL WILL BE <br />HELD ON Wednesday, October 19, 1994 AT 5:I5 p.m. IN THE Council Chamber. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: Cable television rate regulation: "a la carte" offerings <br />(and whether they offer subscribers a "realistic service choice" as defined <br />by FCC criterion) <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox (signed) <br /> <br /> <br />
