89 <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Wednesday, <br />July 14, 1993 AT 12:00 noon IN.THE Johnson Elementary School. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Luncheon meeting with School Board <br /> <br /> Executive session to discuss personnel matters as <br />exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(1) of the Virginia Freedom of <br />Information Act. <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR <br /> <br />BY Jeanne Cox (rsigned) <br /> <br />JOHNSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - July 14, 1993 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the <br />following members present: Ms. Daugherty, Rev. Edwards, Ms. <br />Slaughter, Mr. Toscano, Mr. Vandever. <br /> <br /> Mr. Vandever stated that Council was interested in the <br />recent overture from Albemarle County regarding the <br />possibility of the County expanding into City schools as a <br />result of crowding in the County and encouraged further <br />communication between the Charlottesville and Albemarle School <br />Boards. <br /> <br /> Ms. Linda Seaman, Chairperson of the Charlottesville <br />School Board, stated that the Board will discuss the matter at <br />its upcoming retreat. <br /> <br /> Mr. Jimmie Dunbar, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, <br />requested that a Council member be named to the School Capital <br />Projects Committee to help with the selection of architects <br />for the renovation of Burnley Moran Elementary School. <br /> <br /> Councilors and School Board members toured the recently <br />renovated Johnson Elementary School. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Toscano, <br />Council unanimously voted to meet in executive session to <br />discuss personnel matters as exempted by Section 2.1-344(a) <br />(1) of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, more <br />specifically described as appointments to boards and <br />commissions. <br /> <br /> Council reconvened in open session and, on motion by Rev. <br />Edwards, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, unanimously certified <br />that, to the best of each member's knowledge, (i) only public <br />business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by Virginia law were discussed in the executive <br />meeting to which this certification resolution applies, and <br />(ii) only such public business matters as were identified in <br />the motion convening the executive meeting were heard, <br />discussed or considered by the Council. <br /> <br /> Rev. Edwards was named as the Council representative on. <br />the School Capital Projects Committee. <br /> <br /> <br />
