115 <br /> <br />CITY MARKET <br /> <br /> Mr. Bob Critzer from the Department of Parks and <br />Recreation, stated that the new site for the City Market has <br />been working well, is considered to be safer and has resulted <br />in more profits. Mr. Critzer stated that vendors would like <br />some sort of shelter provided at the site. <br /> <br /> Ms. Lewis noted that the site in question has also been <br />designated as a future site for transit transfer and felt the <br />Planning Commission and Council should talk about the highest <br />and best use for the property. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toscano stated that he felt it would be difficult to <br />make anything but a short-term decision about the site at <br />this time. <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter recommended that the City Market Advisory <br />Committee be formalized by Council, to include vendors, a <br />Council member, member of the Urban Design Committee, and <br />"Friends of the Market," including both City and County <br />people, to look at alternatives. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: POLICE BICYCLES ON DOWNTOWN MALL (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND <br />REORDAINING SECTION 15-246 OF ARTICLE VI OF CHAPTER 15 OF THE <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1990, AS AMENDED, <br />RELATED TO BICYCLES ON THE DOWNTOWN PEDESTRIAN MALL," which <br />was offered at the August 16th meeting, was approved by the <br />follOwing vote.
