Absent: Rev. Edwards. <br /> <br /> On motiOn by Ms. Slaughter, seconded by Mr. Toscano, Council voted to meet in <br />executive session for the purpose of appointing members to various City boards or agencies, as <br />authorized by Section 2.1-344(a)(1) of the Virginia Code. <br /> <br />The meeting was continued to 12:55 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - June 24, 1994 (12:55 p.m.) <br /> <br /> Council reconvened in special, executive session with the folloWing members present: Ms. <br />Daugherty, Rev. Edwards, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Toscano, Mr. Vandever. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, Council unanimously certified <br />that, to the best of each member's knowledge (i) only public business matters lawfully exempted · <br />from open meeting requirements by Virginia law were discussed in the executive meeting to <br />which this certification resolution applies; and (ii) only such public business matters as were <br />identified in the motion convening the executive meeting were heard, discussed or considered by <br />the Council. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Daugherty, seconded by Rev. Edwards, Council unanimously <br />reappointed Mary-Susan Payne and A1 Elias to three-year terms on the School Board, with t~ <br />expiring June 30, 1997, and appointed, with Rev. Edwards abstaining due to a conflict ofinte[~'. <br />Olivia Boykin to an unexpired term on the School Board.
