Edwards, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. <br />Toscano, Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Waters, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, the <br />minutes of the May 13th meeting were approved as presented, <br />with Mr. Vandever abstaining. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Waters, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br />minutes of the May 18th meeting were unanimously approved as <br />presented. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Rev. Edwards announced that the Council will be honoring <br />students for their achievements at Charlottesville High <br />School at a pizza lunch on June 3rd. <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING: SCHOOL BOARD APPOINTMENTS <br /> <br /> Rev. Edwards announced the following names of persons <br />who have applied to date for the vacancies on the School <br />Board: Bill Lucy, Richard Matthews, Steve Friedman, Rauzelle <br />Smith, Dave Rutherford, Jim Hoff and Muriel Wiggins. <br /> <br />The public hearing was opened. <br /> <br /> Mr. Gib Akin spoke on behalf of Mr. Steve Friedman and <br />stated that Mr. Friedman would bring policy analysis <br />experience and a commitment to increasing parental and school <br />board involvement to the School Board. <br /> <br /> Mr. Jim Peterson supported Mr. Friedman for the School <br />Board. <br /> <br /> Mr. Darden Towe, 607 Davis Avenue, supported the <br />reappointment of Mr. Rauzelle Smith to the School Board. <br /> <br /> As there were no further speakers the public hearing was <br />closed. <br /> <br /> <br />
