Slaughter said that under reversion the town would still have five at-large town <br />councilors and a seat on the County Board of Supervisors and County School Boards Mst <br />Slaughter said she feels that the expertise of the voting study is neede& <br /> <br /> The voting, district study wa~s authorized by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Co~ Ms. <br />Daugherty~ Ms. R/chards~ Ms~ Slaughter. Absent: Mr. Toscano. <br /> <br /> The proposal, to have the League of Women Voters hold a symposium on reversion was <br />discussed, and it was agreed that a mom derailed description of the proposal would be <br />brought back to Council after the League meets next week. <br /> <br /> Ms, Sandy Snook, a League of Women Voters' observer at the meeting, said that the <br />League wants to look beyond the reversion issue and to facilitate a community look at a <br />whole range of options. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox said that if Council convenes an advisory commission he feels confident that <br />will be as inclusive as possible, and asked if the League can guarantee that a diverse group <br />will be formed. <br /> <br /> Ms~ R/chards said she is very comfortable with the League's proposal, and co_nfident <br />about the League's thoroughness, researck~ and ability to think in terms of the future. Ms. <br />R/chards a~eed that any such effo~ should include a diverse group of ckizens. <br /> <br /> Regarding focus groups, Ms~ Daugherty said that she feels that Council is already <br />addressing this, but Councilors could themselves convene certain groups. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cox suggested tha. t Council consider using outside volunteer facitkators to meet <br />with groups of citizens~ <br /> Ms~ Dat~gherty said she feels elected officials shoed meet with their constituents rather <br />than having outside facilitators.
