281 <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Friday, March 21, 1997 <br />AT 8:00 a.m. IN THE Second Floor Conference Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Executive session as provided by Section 2.1-344(A) of the Virginia Code <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR <br /> <br />BY Jeanne Cox (signed) <br /> <br />SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM - March 21, 1997 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Mr. <br />Cox, Ms. Daugherty, Ms. Richards, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Toscano. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Daugherty, seconded by Ms. Richards, Council voted to meet in <br />executive session, with Mr. Cox absent for the vote, for the purpose of consultation with <br />legal counsel and briefings by staff members, consultants or attorneys, pertaining to probable <br />litigation, or other specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal advice by counsel, as <br />authorized by Section 2.1-344(A)(7) of the Virginia Code. The substance of the matters to <br />be discussed can reasonably be identified as follows: changes in the form of local government <br />structure, and related alternatives. An executive session on this subject is also authorized by <br />Section 15.1-945.7(D) of the Virginia Code. <br /> <br /> Council reconvened in open session and, on motion by Ms. Daugherty, seconded by <br />Mr. Toscano, certified, with Ms. Richards absent for the vote, that, to the best of each <br />member's knowledge, (i) only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by Virginia law were discussed in the executive meeting to which this <br />certification resolution applies, and (ii) only such public business matters as were identified in <br />the motion convening the executive meeting were heard, discussed or considered by the <br />Council. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br />l~resident <br /> <br /> NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETI2NG <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Wednesday, March 26, <br />1997 AT 7:00 p.m. IN THE Basement Conference Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Budget Work Session <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR BY Jeanne Cox (signed) <br /> <br /> BASEMENT CONFERENCE ROOM - March 26, 1997 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the following members present: Mr. <br />Cox, Ms. Daugherty, Ms. Richards, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Toscano. <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell reviewed program modifications recommended in the budget: <br />community relations position ($30,000 reallocated to help fund, plus new money for <br />brochures, productions) which will provide the City an opportunity to be more proactive in <br />the community and better provide information to the public; pay and classification study <br /> <br /> <br />
