ORDINANCE: Closing a portion of Rockland Avenue (2nd reading) <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. Daniel Hine, 1708 Concord Drive, said that he went to an amusement arcade in <br />Rhode Island and never experienced any problems, and he feels the experience would be <br />similar in Charlottesville. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Richards, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, Council unanimously voted <br />to meet in executive session for the purpose of discussing appointments to boards and <br />commissions as authorized by Section 2.1-344(A)(1) of the Virginia Code. <br /> <br /> Council reconvened in open session and, on motion by Ms. Daugherty, seconded by <br />Mr. Toscano, certified that, to the best of each member's knowledge, (i) only public business <br />matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by Virginia law were discussed in <br />the executive meeting to which this certification resolution applies, and (ii) only such public <br />business matters as were identified in the motion convening the executive meeting were <br />heard, discussed or considered by the Council. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS: BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Daugherty, seconded by Mr. Cox, Ms. Kathleen Galvin was <br />unanimously appointed to serve on the Piedmont Housing Alliance. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Ms. Richards, Ms. Carla Sykes was <br />unanimously appointed to serve a two-year te~rn on the Jefferson Area Board for Aging. <br />This term will expire on April 1, 1999. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Richards, seconded by Ms. Daugherty, Ms. Carol Manning was <br />unanimously appointed to a three-year term on the Jefferson Area United Transportation <br />(JAUNT) Board.
