Noes: <br />Ms. Slaughter. <br /> <br /> Ms. Toscano made a motion that the establishment of a <br />local transportation district be explored whiCh would plan, <br />implement and monitor rural road plans With the State. <br /> <br /> Ms. Waters seconded the motion and stated that she felt <br />the Metropolitan Planning Organization would be the logical <br />forum except that the UniversitY of Virginia is not a member. <br /> <br /> Council unanimously supported exploring the formation of <br />a local transportation district and the Mayor was requested <br />to send a letter to the University of Virginia and Albemarle <br />County to determine their interest. <br /> <br /> Regarding the draft letter to the State Department of <br />Transportation proposed to be signed by the City, County and <br />University, Ms. Waters emphasized the importance of the <br />phasing of road improvements. <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter stated that she favored construction of <br />the Meadowcreek Parkway only after base case improvements. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Waters, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br />letter was unanimoUSly approved by Council. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: 100 YEAR FLOOD PLAIN ELEVATION BOUNDARY CORRECTIONS <br />(2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND <br />REORDAIN SECTION 31-117 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO REVISIONS TO <br />THE FLOOD BOUNDARY AND FLOODWAY MAPS FOR THE CITY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE," which was offered at the July 16th meeting, <br />was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Rev. Edwards, <br />Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Toscano, Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters.
