Mr. Towe noted concern about the gully at Quarry Park <br />and Mr'. O'Connell stated that the problem there would be very <br />expensive to address. <br /> <br /> Mr. Vandever. questioned whether, the erosion at Azalea <br />Park should be addressed earlier than scheduled. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck questioned the amount of money proPosed for <br />drainage projects given the fact that all but one of the high <br />priority drainage projects have been completed. <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell stated that some ~of the School Board's <br />priorities may change as a result of their facility and <br />programming study. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck stated that he had questions about the high <br />cost of undergrounding utilities and extending the east end <br />of the downtown mall unless the improvements are tied in with <br />other improvements and recommended instead that funds be set <br />aside for activities that will generate additional people <br />downtown. Mr. Buck also recommended that improved signage <br />for downtown be addressed. <br /> <br /> Mr. Towe stated that he felt it was important to keep <br />the post office downtown. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that should the mall be extended on <br />the east end of the downtown mall,-then the relocation of the <br />post office will need to be addressed. <br /> <br /> Mr. Towe recommended postponing a decision about funding <br />possibilities for downtown until after Council receives-the <br />report from the downtown charrette. Mr. Towe advised that it <br />might be necessary to appropriate additional funds for <br />Rivanna and McIntire Park. Mr. Towe stated that he hoped the <br />School ~Board would give consideration to moving up athletic <br />improvements at the high school. Mr. Towe stated that he <br />felt the additional nine holes of golf at Pen park would be <br />an amenity for the community. <br /> <br /> Mr. O'Connell requested that Council indicate any <br />concerns about Capital Projects funded in FY 89-90, but no <br />objections were raised. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - June 19, 1989 <br /> <br /> Council met in regular session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Buck, Mr, Towe, Mr. Vandever. <br />Absent: Rev. Edwards and Ms. Waters. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Towe, seconded by Mr. Vandever, Mr. <br /> Buck was elected~presiding officer for the meeting, with Mr. <br /> Buck abstaining from the vote, due to the absence of Mayor <br /> Waters and Vice Mayor Edwards. <br /> <br />MINUTES ~' <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Towe, seconded by Mr. vandever, the <br /> minutes of the MaY 23rd meeting were apProved as presented, <br /> with Rev. Edwards and Ms. Waters absent. <br /> <br /> on motion by Mr. Vandever, seconded by Mr. TOwe, the <br /> minutes of the June 5th meeting were aPproved as presented, <br /> with Rev. Edwards and Ms. Waters absent. <br /> <br /> <br />
