102 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: GAS TRANSPORTATION <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the ordinance amendment Changed <br />a date regarding gas transportation to,conform to federal <br />regulations. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAtN <br />SECTION 12-6.1 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br />1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO GAS TRANSPORTATION SERVICE,, was <br />offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Buck, seconded by Mr. Towe, Council <br />voted to meet in executive session for the purpose of <br />considering the acquisition or use of real property for <br />public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, <br />as authorized by Section 2.1-344(a)(3) of the Virginia <br />Freedom of Information Action, and more specifically to <br />discuss the acquisition of real estate in the downtown area. <br /> <br /> Council reconvened and unanimously certified that, to <br />the best of each member's knowledge, (i) only public business <br />matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by <br />Virginia law were discussed in the executive meeting to which <br />this certification resolution applies, and (ii) only such <br />public business matters as were identified in the motion <br />convening the executive meeting were heard, discussed-or <br />considered by the Council. <br /> <br /> The meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />Pre,dent ~ <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Wednesday, <br />September 13, 1989 AT 12:00 noon IN THE Basement Conference <br />Room. ~ <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: ~ <br /> <br />Luncheon meeting with School Board <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR By Jeanne Cox (signed) <br /> <br /> BASEMENT CONFERENCE ROOM - September 13, 1989 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Buck, Rev. Edwards, Mr. Towe, <br />Ms. Waters. Absent: Mr. Vandever. <br /> <br /> Dr. Joseph McGeehan, Superintendent of City Schools, <br />stated that a Drop Out Study and Prevention Task Force will <br />be appointed in the near future and over 80 people have <br />indicated their interest in serving on the Task Force. Dr. <br />McGeehan added that he will also appoint a twelve member <br />Coordinating Task Force to address the issue. The Task Force <br />is expected to make recommendations by December. <br /> <br /> <br />
