106 <br /> <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO GAS <br />TRANSPORTATION SERVICE," which was offered at the September <br />5th meeting, was approved by the following vote Ayes: Mr. <br />Buck, Rev. ~Edwards, Mr. Towe, Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. <br />Noes: None. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: CHARGE FOR BAD CHECKS (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the ordinance would increase the <br /> charge for bad checks given to the CitY to $20.00. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Vandeyer~ the <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br />SECTION 2-63i. 1 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESWILLE, <br />1976, AS AMENDED, INCREASING THE FEE FOR WORTHLESS CHECKS" <br />was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: DECAL PURCHASE <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the ordinance would require that <br />an automobile decal be purchased prior to accepting payment <br />for the fine given for failure to have a decal. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Towe, seconded by Rev. Edwards, the <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br />SECTION 16-29 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br />1976, AS AMENDED, TO REQUIRE THE PURCHASE OF CITY LICENSE <br />DECAL PRIOR TO PAYMENT OF FINE FOR SUCH VIOLATION" was <br />offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: HANDICAPPED PARKING SIGNS <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the ordinance would bring the <br />City Code in line with the State Code regarding the display <br />of vertical signs designating handicapped parking spaces. <br />Mr. Hendrix noted that vertical signs are already in place in <br />all public handicapped parking spaces. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br />ordinance entitled ,AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br />SECTION 16-43.2 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br />1976, AS AMENDED, REQUIRING ABOVE-GRADE SIGNS IN PARKING <br />SPACES DESIGNATED FOR THE HANDICAPPED" was offered and <br />carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: WEED VIOLATION NOTICE <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the ordinance would allow a <br />first class letter to be sent when giving notice of weed <br />violations rather than registered mail. ~ <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Towe, the <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br />SECTION 23-7 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br />1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO UNTRIMMED WEEDS OR VEGETATION" <br />was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $35,000 - AFFIRMATIVE ACTION TRAINING (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> Mr. Louie Chapman, Assistant City Manager, explained <br />that the EEO Committee is composed of City staff who help <br />with complaint resolution. Mr. Chapman stated that more <br />emphasis will be placed on these counselors after the <br />training. <br /> <br /> Mr. Towe questioned the large number of general <br />employees who will be trained and stated that he felt it <br />would be more advantageous for supervisors to be trained who <br />will then be able to have an impact. Mr. Towe stated that he <br />would like to see a better breakdown of the training planned. <br /> <br /> <br />
