125 <br /> <br /> Ms. Waters stated that it apPeared that the Grayson <br />Commission proposal contained very little that would benefit <br />Charlottesville and cities of similar size. <br /> <br /> There was a discussion of ways in which Council could <br />communicate it's opposition to the Grayson Commission <br />recommendations and it was agreed that a statement would be <br />sent for the public hearing scheduled for November 20th by <br />the Grayson Commission and the matter would also be included <br />on the~legislative statement prepared~by the Thomas Jefferson <br />Planning District Commission. <br /> <br />APpROpRIATION: .$3,000 - DONATION TO THERAPEUTIC RECREATION <br />PROGRAM (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The $3,000 appropriation of the donation to the <br />Therapeutic Recreation Program which was offered at the <br />October 2nd meeting was approved by the following vote. <br />Ayes: Mr. Buck, Rev. Edwards, Mr. Towe~ Mr. Vandever, Ms. <br />Waters. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of $3,000.00, <br />received as a donation to the Therapeutic Recreation Program <br />in the Parks and Recreation Department, is hereby <br />appropriated to expenditure account 05-172-072137 to be <br />expended on therapeutic recreation programs as directed by <br />the Director of the Parks and Recreation Department. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $11,602.80 - DRUG SEIZURE ASSETS (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The $11,602.80 appropriation of drug seizure assets <br />which was offered at the October 2nd meeting was approved by <br />the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Buck, Rev. Edwards, Mr. Towe, <br />Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Police Department of the City of <br />Charlottesville has received checks totalling $11,602.80 <br />representing.money lawfully seized by the City Police <br />Department from persons subsequently convicted of drug <br />related crimes~ and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said funds have been deposited with the <br />Treasurer of the City) and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the federal policies authorize the City Police <br />Department to receive and spend such proceeds provided the <br />expenditure is on drug related law enforcement matters; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that such $11,602.80 shall be <br />appropriated to police investigation expenditure account <br />05-270-041110-55104. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $4,296 - LITTER CONTROL GRANT <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the $4,296 was a state grant <br /> which would be turned over to the Charlottesville-Albemarle <br /> Clean Community Commission. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. EdWards, seconded'by Mr. Towe, the <br />$4,296 appropriation of .the Litter ~Control Grant was offered <br />and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $2,429 - DONATION FOR TULIP BULBS <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated ~that ~$2~429 had~been received from an <br /> anonymous donor to purchase tulip bulbs. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br /> $2,429 appropriation of a donation for tulip bulbs was <br /> offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br /> <br /> <br />
