Ayes: Mr. Buck, Rev. Edwards, Mr. Towe, <br />Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Police Department of the City of <br />Charlottesville has received checks totalling $42,107.10 <br />representing money lawfully seized by the City Police <br />Department from persons subsequently convicted of drug <br />related crimes) and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said funds have been deposited with the <br />Treasurer of the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the federal policies authorize the City Police <br />Department to receive and spend such proceeds provided the <br />expenditure is on drug related law enforcement matters; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that such $42,1007.10 shall be <br />appropriated to police investigation expenditure account <br />05-270-041110-55104. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $36,787 - RIVANNA PARK CONSTRUCTION (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The $36,787 appropriation for Rivanna Park construction <br />which was offered at the December 4th meeting was approved by <br />the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Buck, Rev. Edwards, Mr. Towe, <br />Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of $36,787 is hereby <br />appropriated from the unappropriated balance of the General <br />Fund to expenditure account 26-171-121061 in the Capital <br />Projects Fund for construction of improvements at Rivanna <br />Park. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: ~4,940 - INDEPENDENT LIVING INITIATIVES GRANT <br /> <br /> Mr. Heyward McElveen, Director of Social Services, <br />stated that the appropriation was a federal grant which would <br />support a program which helps older teenage foster children <br />move back into the community. Mr. McE~lveen stated that the <br />program was operated jointly with Albemarle and Greene <br />Counties and 21 foster children were served in the past year. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br />$4,940 appropriation of the grant for the Independent Li~ing <br />Initiatives program was offered and carried over to the next <br />meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $1,271,088.87 - JOB TRAINING AND ~PARTNERSHIP ACT <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix explained that the City-~acts as <br />administrative agent for the JOb Training and Partnership Act <br />program and the appropriation consisted of State and Federal <br />funds. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Vandever, seconded by Rev. Edwards the <br />$1,271,088.87 appropriation for the Job Training and <br />Partnership Act was offered and carried over to the next <br />meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $12,678 - CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS <br /> <br /> <br />
