:185 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: AMENDING PROCUREMENT ORDINANCE <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix explained the the ordinance would raise the <br />limit for small purchases to ~6,000 and that State law <br />currently allows for a limit of $15,000. If approved, three <br />written quotations for purchases between $500 and $6,000 <br />would be required, but competitive sealed bids or competitive <br />negotiation would be required if the contract is expected to <br />exceed ~6,000. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br />SECTION 21.1-10 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br />1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO SMALL PURCHASE PROCEDURES" was <br />offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Rev. Edwards recommended that the City reward the police <br />and fire explorers such as offering athletic club <br />memberships. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that he would report back to Council <br />with a range of possible ways to reward the explorers. <br /> <br /> Mr. Towe commended the Mayor for her memorandum to the <br />Planning Commission regarding the recommendations of the <br />Fifeville Task Force. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Towe, Council <br />unanimously voted to meet in executive session to discuss <br />appointments to the JAUNT Board, Piedmont Virginia Community <br />College Board and the Board of Architectural review, and for <br />the purpose of considering the acquisition or use of real <br />property for public purpose, or the disposition of publicly <br />held property, and more specifically described as property on <br />Water Street as authorized by Section 2.1-344(A)(1) and (3) <br />of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act. <br /> <br /> Council reconvened in open session and, on motion by <br />Rev. Edwards, seconded by Ms. Waters, unanimously certified <br />that, to the best of each member's knowledge, (i) only public <br />business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by Virginia law were discussed in the executive <br />meeting to which this certification resolution applies, and <br />(ii) only such public business matters as were identified in <br />the motion convening the executive meeting were heard, <br />discussed or considered by the Council. <br /> <br /> The meetinq was adjourned. <br />PrUdent ~ <br /> <br /> <br />
