This term will expire on August 31, 1991. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: ~50,000 - VHDA GRANT FOR RENTAL REHABILITATION <br />(2nd reading) <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of $50,000 is hereby <br />appropriated from funds received from the Virginia Housing <br />Development Authority in the Grants Fund to expenditure <br />account 11-042-093020 for deferred loans and grants for the <br />rental rehabilitation program to be administered by the <br />Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority. Such <br />appropriation shall be expended in accordance with applicable <br />regulations of 24 C.F.R. Part 511 as well as governing <br />federal and state laws in the administration and use of funds <br />received from HUD under the federal Rental Rehabilitation <br />Program. <br /> <br /> The ~50,000 appropriation of the VHDA Grant for the <br />Rental Rehabilitation Program which was offered at the March <br />5th meeting was approved by the following vote. Edwards, the <br />$5,500 grant for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program <br />administered by the Department of Social Services was.offered <br />and carried over to the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />$1,987.52 - GRANT FOR RADAR EQUIPMENT IN POLICE <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br />~1,987.52 grant for radar equipment in the Police Department <br />was offered and carried over to the next'meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: ENDORSING "TAKE BACK THE NIGHT" b~RCH <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev. Edwards~ seconded by Mr. Vandever, the <br />resolution endorsing the "Take Back the Night" March was <br />unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the National Organization for Women (NOW) rat <br />the University of Virginia, in conjunction with <br />Charlottesville NOW and the Sexual Assault Resource Agency <br />(SARA), is sponsoring the Second Annual Take Back the Night <br />March and Rally on April 5, 1990 in order to raise community <br />awareness about violence against women in the <br />Charlotteville-Albemarle community which could help reduce <br />the frequency'of violence against women; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the March has been granted the required special <br />event permit from the City of.Charlottesville; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville hereby endorses the Second Annual Take Back <br />the Night March and joins the many other community <br />organizations in supporting this effort to bring an end to <br />violence against women in our community. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: CLOSING ALLEY BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND STREET, N.E.
