Edwards, seconded by Mr. Towe, Council <br />unanimously approved the proposed recreation programs as <br />recommended above.by Mr. German.~ ~ <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT: RECYCLING PROGRAM <br /> <br /> Ms. Judith Mueller, Director of Public Works, explained <br />that staff has recommended a revision to the pilot recycling <br />program which involves purchase of better equipment and a <br />reduction in the number of employees originally proposed. <br />Ms. Mueller recommended the following neighborhoods to begin <br />the pilot recycling program: Ridge Street, Belmont, North <br />Downtown, North~Greenbrier, and Westhaven because of the mix <br />of resident incomes, type of housing and traffic, and <br />because all sections are within contained refuse sites which <br />will allow better evaluation. Ms. Mueller stated that there <br />is a market for used vehicles should the equipment purchased <br />need to be disposed of. Ms. Mueller stated, that efforts are <br />also being made to improve the Recycling Center on McIntire <br />Road. <br /> <br /> On motion by Rev, Edwards, seconded by Mr. Towe, Council <br />unanimously approved the recycling program as recommended <br />above by Ms. Mueller. - <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $174,312 - FY 89-90 CDBG FUNDS FOR FIFEVILLE <br />NEIGHBORHOOD (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The $174,312 appropriation of FY 89-90 CDBG funds for <br />the Fifeville neighborhood which was offered at the May 21st <br />meeting was approved by the following vote. Ayes: Mr. Buck, <br />Rev. Edwards, Mr. Towe, Mr. Vandever, Ms. Waters.
