Noes: <br />None. <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter requested that the Mayor send a letter of <br />thanks to Mr. Colley on behalf of Council. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that the sum of $250.00, received <br />as a donation by Robert Colley, Charlottesville Messenger <br />Service, to the Bicycle Safety Program for the purchase of <br />bicycle helmets for children riding bicycles in the Dogwood <br />Festival parade, is hereby appropriated to General Fund <br />account 05-041-045030 for such purpose. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION: AUTHORIZING GRANT APPLICATION FOR SHELTER FOR HELP <br />IN EMERGENCY <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Waters, seconded by Mr. Toscano, the <br />resolution authorizing the grant application for the Shelter for <br />Help in Emergency was unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr, Warren Crispens requested that information about the <br />Omni be published as he felt some financial accounting to the <br />public should be given. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter noted that persons attending the solid <br />waste forum had expressed general interest in expanding <br />recycling and concern over the trash bag proposal. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the Commonwealth Transportation <br />Board was meeting on Thursday and the City had been invited to <br />send a representative to the work session scheduled on <br />Wednesday. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that a pre-allocation hearing will be <br />held by the Department of Transportation on April llth and <br />he will be sending out the previously adopted highway <br />priority list to see if Councilors want to make any changes. <br /> <br /> Rev. Edwards.stated that a citizen had recommended that <br />donations for the City's gas assistance program be requested <br />during the summer months. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Waters, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, <br />Council unanimously voted to meet in executive session to <br />discuss the acquisition, use or disposition of real property, <br />more specifically described as property near Tonsler Park, as <br />exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(3) of the Virginia Freedom of <br />Information Act. <br /> <br /> Council reconvened in open session and, on motion by Ms. <br />Waters, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, unanimously certified, <br />that, to the best of each member's knowledge (i) only Public <br />business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by Virginia law were discussed in the executive <br />meeting to which this certification resolution applies, and <br />(ii) only such public business matters as were identified in <br />the motion convening the executive meeting were heard, <br />discussed or considered by the Council. <br /> <br />President ~k <br /> <br /> <br />
