239 <br /> <br />know the Department of Transportation's assumptions on the <br />location of the Parkway and whether the cost would be reduced <br />since their original assumption included building the road <br />along McIntire Road and purchasing more private property than <br />might actually be necessary since the road would go through <br />park land. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Ms. Slaughter regarding <br />the Ridge Street Bridge, Mr. McNabb stated that the major <br />design features will be going before the Transportation <br />Board, but noted that the City will have the opportunity to <br />review the final design of the bridge, with construction due <br />to begin in the spring of 1992. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question frOm Ms. Slaughter, Mr. Hendrix <br />stated that the 9th Street/10th Street project was ready for <br />Council action. <br /> <br /> Ms. Waters stated that she was prepared to accept the <br />redesign proposal for a wider bridge~and made a motion to <br />move forward with the redesign for the 9th Street/10th Street <br />project. Ms. Slaughter seconded the motion and it was <br />unanimously approved by Council. <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter requested that information regarding the <br />Meadowcreek Parkway be passed on to the North Downtown <br />Residents Association and the Charlottesville Downtown <br />Foundation as it becomes available. <br /> <br /> Responding to a question from Mr. Toscano, Mr. Hendrix <br /> stated that the City's share of the funding for the Ridge <br /> Street Bridge is included in the budget. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $6,691 - $1 FOR LIFE PROGRAM (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> The $6,691 appropriation for the $1 for Life Program <br /> which was offered at the June 3rd meeting was approved by the <br /> following vote. Ayes: Rev. Edwards, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. <br /> Toscano, Ms. Waters. Noes: None. Absent: . Mr. Vandever. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that the sum of $6,691.00, received <br />in the City's General Fund as revenue from the Virginia <br />Department of Health's "$1 for Life" program, is hereby <br />appropriated to the following General Fund expenditure <br />accounts for use by the following agencies: <br /> <br />05-301-061040 <br />05-260-042016 <br /> <br />Thomas Jefferson Emergency <br />Medical Services <br />Charlottesville Fire Department <br /> <br />$3,345.50 <br /> <br /> 3,345..50 <br /> <br />$6,691.00 <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: FY 91-92 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix explained that the appropriation would set <br />into motion the CDBG program previously approved by Council <br />and HUD. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Waters, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, the <br />appropriation of the FY 91-92 Community Development Block <br />Grant Funds was offered and carried over to ~the next meeting <br />for consideration. <br /> <br />APPROPRIATION: $47,011.77 - SUMMER NUTRITION PROGRAM GRANT <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the appropriation would fund the <br />food service program at the playgrounds for eligible children <br />during the summer. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Waters, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, the <br />$47,011.77 appropriation of the Summer Nutrition Program <br />grant was offered and carried over to the next meeting for <br /> <br /> <br />
