246 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: <br /> <br />ROAD <br /> <br />CLOSING AN ALLEY OFF THE SOUTH SIDE OF 1925 BLUE RIDGE <br /> <br /> Mr. Huja stated that the Planning commission recommended <br /> approval of the alley closing for the following reasons: it <br /> will serve no present or future public purpose to maintain <br /> this alley as a public right-of-way. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Toscano, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, the <br /> ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND <br /> DISCONTINUING AN ALLEY OFF BLUE RIDGE ROAD" was offered and <br /> carried over to the next meeting fOr consideration. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> There were no matter's by the public. <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter suggested that the teen center report be <br />presented to the City Parks Committee. <br /> <br /> On motion by Ms. Waters, seconded by Mr. Toscano, <br />Council voted to meet in executive session to discuss the <br />acquisition or use of real property for public purpose, or <br />the disposition of publicly held property as exempted by <br />Section 2.1-344(a)(3) of the Virginia Freedom of Information <br />Act, and more specifically as the Water Street parking garage <br />and CSX property. <br /> <br /> CounCil reconvened in open session and, on motion by Ms. <br />Waters, seconded by Ms. Slaughter, certified that, to.the <br />best of each member,s knowledge, (i) Only public business <br />matters lawfull~ exempted from open meeting requirements by <br />Virginia law were discussed in the executive meeting to which <br />this certification resolution applies, and (ii) only such <br />public business matters as were identified in the motion <br />convening the executive meeting were heard, discussed or <br />considered by the Council. <br /> <br />rned. <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Tuesday, <br />June 18, 1991 AT 7:00 p.m. IN THE Basement Conference Room. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Work session: Solid Waste Issues <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE 5~YOR <br /> <br />BY Jeanne Cox (sigqed) <br /> <br />BASEMENT CONFERENCE ROOM - June 18, 1991 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the <br />following members present: Rev. Edwards, Ms. Slaughter, Mr. <br />Toscano, Ms. Waters. Absent: Mr. Vandever. <br /> <br /> It was agreed that Council would discuss the proposed <br />fees for dumpster collection, the request for proposals, the <br />regional plan, and the issues summarized in the solid waste <br />report. <br /> <br /> Ms. Slaughter stated that she would prefer to <br />distinguish between commercial and residential dumpster <br />service. <br /> <br /> <br />
