The ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING CERTAIN <br />LANDLORDS TO INSTALL DEADBOLT LOCKS AND PEEPHOLES AT THE <br />REQUEST OF TENANTS" was carried over to the next meeting for <br />consideration. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck requested that staff develop a flyer <br />containing information about the requirements of the <br />ordinance once it is adopted which could be sent to persons <br />affected. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: RELATING TO MINIMUM LENGTH OF PARKING SPACES <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that the ordinance would reduce the <br />requirement for length of parking spaces from 19 feet to 18 <br />feet~ as recommended by the Planning Commission. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br />SECTION 31-159 OF THE CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE MINIMUM <br />LENGTH OF PARKING SPACES" was offered and carried over to <br />the next meeting for consideration. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: <br /> <br />PROPERTY <br /> <br />REMOVAL OF INOPERATIVE MOTOR VEHICLES FROM PRIVATE <br /> <br /> Mro Gouldman explained that the current City ordinance <br />regarding removal of inoperative motor vehicles has an <br />unclear definition and State law now provides clearer <br />legislation and a better definition of inoperative vehicles. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck stated that he was concerned with the <br />inclusion of business districts in the ordinance and the <br />possible affect on existing service stations and automobile <br />repair shops. <br /> <br /> Mr. John Via of Harris Road stated that he was <br />concerned that the ordinance would adversely affect persons <br />who work on antique cars for a hobby. <br /> <br /> Mr. Towe stated that while he emphathizes with antique <br />car collectors, he supported the ordinance and felt that <br />language could be found to accommodate antique car <br />collectors. <br /> <br /> The ordinance was deferred until the business affected <br />could be determined. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: <br /> <br />BUILDINGS <br /> <br />PROVIDING FOR REMOVAL, REPAIR, AND SECURING OF UNSAFE <br /> <br /> Mr. Gouldman stated that the ordinance is intended to <br />establish standards for condemnation of buildings, notice <br />requirements, legal consequences and action to be taken by <br />the City. Mr. Gouldman noted that the City has the <br />authority to require more than presently required in the <br />State Housing Code. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Towe, the <br />ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 5 OF THE <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, TO AMEND SECTION 5-14 <br />FOR HOUSEKEEPING PURPOSES AND TO ADD A NEW ARTICLE VII TO <br />PROVIDE FOR THE REMOVAL, REPAIR OR SECURING OF UNSAFE <br />BUILDINGS" was offered and carried over to the next meeting <br />for consideration. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br />There were no matters by the public. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br /> <br />Mr. Hendrix stated that the University of Virginia <br /> <br />75 <br /> <br /> <br />
